マタイによる福音 7:21-29

       （そのとき、イエスは弟子たちに言われた。）

　「わたしに向かって、『主よ、主よ』と言う者が皆、天の国に入るわけではない。わたしの天の父の御心を行う者だけが入るのである。かの日には、大勢の者がわたしに、『主よ、主よ、わたしたちは御名によって預言し、御名によって悪霊を追い出し、御名によって奇跡をいろいろ行ったではありませんか』と言うであろう。そのとき、わたしはきっぱりとこう言おう。『あなたたちのことは全然知らない。不法を働く者ども、わたしから離れ去れ。』　

　そこで、わたしのこれらの言葉を聞いて行う者は皆、岩の上に自分の家を建てた賢い人に似ている。雨が降り、川があふれ、風が吹いてその家を襲っても、倒れなかった。岩を土台としていたからである。わたしのこれらの言葉を聞くだけで行わない者は皆、砂の上に家を建てた愚かな人に似ている。雨が降り、川があふれ、風が吹いてその家に襲いかかると、倒れて、その倒れ方がひどかった。」

　イエスがこれらの言葉を語り終えられると、群衆はその教えに非常に驚いた。彼らの律法学者のようにではなく、権威ある者としてお教えになったからである。

21"Not every one who says to me, `Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22On that day many will say to me, `Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?' 23And then will I declare to them, `I never knew you; depart from me, you evildoers.'24"Every one then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house upon the rock; 25and the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat upon that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. 26And every one who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house upon the sand; 27and the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell; and great was the fall of it." 28And when Jesus finished these sayings, the crowds were astonished at his teaching, 29for he taught them as one who had authority, and not as their scribes.
