ヨハネによる福音 20:24-29

　十二人の一人でディディモと呼ばれるトマスは、イエスが来られたとき、彼らと一緒にいなかった。そこで、ほかの弟子たちが、「わたしたちは主を見た」と言うと、トマスは言った。「あの方の手に釘の跡を見、この指を釘跡に入れてみなければ、また、この手をそのわき腹に入れてみなければ、わたしは決して信じない。」さて八日の後、弟子たちはまた家の中におり、トマスも一緒にいた。戸にはみな鍵がかけてあったのに、イエスが来て真ん中に立ち、「あなたがたに平和があるように」と言われた。それから、トマスに言われた。「あなたの指をここに当てて、わたしの手を見なさい。また、あなたの手を伸ばし、わたしのわき腹に入れなさい。信じない者ではなく、信じる者になりなさい。」トマスは答えて、「わたしの主、わたしの神よ」と言った。イエスはトマスに言われた。「わたしを見たから信じたのか。見ないのに信じる人は、幸いである。」

24Now Thomas, one of the twelve, called the Twin, was not with them when Jesus came. 25So the other disciples told him, "We have seen the Lord." But he said to them, "Unless I see in his hands the print of the nails, and place my finger in the mark of the nails, and place my hand in his side, I will not believe." 26Eight days later, his disciples were again in the house, and Thomas was with them. The doors were shut, but Jesus came and stood among them, and said, "Peace be with you."27Then he said to Thomas, "Put your finger here, and see my hands; and put out your hand, and place it in my side; do not be faithless, but believing." 28Thomas answered him, "My Lord and my God!" 29Jesus said to him, "Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet believe."
