福音朗読　　マタイによる福音　　8:28-34

　（そのとき、）イエスが向こう岸のガダラ人の地方に着かれると、悪霊に取りつかれた者が二人、墓場から出てイエスのところにやって来た。二人は非常に狂暴で、だれもその辺りの道を通れないほどであった。突然、彼らは叫んだ。「神の子、かまわないでくれ。まだ、その時ではないのにここに来て、我々を苦しめるのか。」はるかかなたで多くの豚の群れがえさをあさっていた。そこで、悪霊どもはイエスに、「我々を追い出すのなら、あの豚の中にやってくれ」と願った。イエスが、「行け」と言われると、悪霊どもは二人から出て、豚の中に入った。すると、豚の群れはみな崖を下って湖になだれ込み、水の中で死んだ。豚飼いたちは逃げ出し、町に行って、悪霊に取りつかれた者のことなど一切を知らせた。すると、町中の者がイエスに会おうとしてやって来た。そして、イエスを見ると、その地方から出て行ってもらいたいと言った。

28And when he came to the other side, to the country of the Gadarenes, two demoniacs met him, coming out of the tombs, so fierce that no one could pass that way. 29And behold, they cried out, "What have you to do with us, O Son of God? Have you come here to torment us before the time?"30Now a herd of many swine was feeding at some distance from them. 31And the demons begged him, "If you cast us out, send us away into the herd of swine." 32And he said to them, "Go." So they came out and went into the swine; and behold, the whole herd rushed down the steep bank into the sea, and perished in the waters. 33The herdsmen fled, and going into the city they told everything, and what had happened to the demoniacs. 34And behold, all the city came out to meet Jesus; and when they saw him, they begged him to leave their neighborhood.
