　私たちはもし他人の言葉や行ないや、自分に関係のないことに、余計な気を使おうとしないならば、大いに心が安らかになるだろう。

　他人のことに関係し、求めて心を外に散らし、めったに、あるいはほとんど、気を落ちつけようとしない人は、どうして長く安らかに生活すことができよう？

　単純な人は幸いである、かれらは大きな安らかさを得ることができるからである。

　CHAPTER XI  Of seeking peace of mind and of spiritual progress

 We may enjoy abundance of peace if we refrain from busying ourselves with the sayings and doings of others, and things which concern not ourselves.

 How can he abide long time in peace who occupieth himself with other men's matters, and with things without himself, and meanwhile payeth little or rare heed to the self within?

 Blessed are the single-hearted, for they shall have abundance of peace.
